I have worked with animals throughout my life. Having been a dog groomer for many years, I have recently ‘topped up’ my qualifications, added Cat Grooming to my portfolio and moved my business to a new, from home purpose-built dog & cat grooming salon.

I was born into a successful dog grooming and top Dalmatian breeding and showing family in the North West. As soon as I was strong enough to hold a dog and a brush, I was encouraged to help in the family grooming salon. From a young age I competed at Kennel Club Champ dog shows in ‘Junior handling’ classes, but soon moved on up into adult dog showing classes at the age of ten. I made my own Dalmatian bitch up to Champion, against the adult opposition!

Wanting to expand my knowledge in the world of animal care I’ve worked in boarding kennels and a cattery. I became a Registered Pet sitter and have also worked in the past for the RSPCA. It was whilst working for the RSPCA as an animal Care Assistant for the rehabilitation of dogs and cats that I gained my NVQ 2 in Animal Care and Welfare.

With the support of my husband, we have also competed our own horses and Dalmatians together as a team in working trials. We gained 5 working Dalmatian Championship titles and 3 Top Conditioned Dog awards, awarded by the vet monitoring the working Dalmatians whilst competing. We’ve also travelled across the country giving demonstrations with our dogs and horses. We have had success in competing in agility and recently we are now in the process of competing our dogs in ‘Scentwork UK’ trials across the country, with us moving up the levels. We are passionate about the training of dog’s, with all our own dog’s being trained up to the Kennel Club Good Citizenship Gold award.

Always wanting to give back to animals, I volunteer for the ‘Cinnamon Trust’ assessing dog’s on their behalf, this means I often walk dogs for their owners who are too sick or physically unable to walk their dogs themselves. If you’ve got time to give please take a look at their website www.cinnamon.org.uk

As I am always keen to keep up to date with modern methods and technology, I have topped up my qualifications in order to achieve my higher standard in dog and cat grooming training. I was proud to attend the long established and Approved Dapper Dog Grooming centre in Norwich, the Elite Grooming Gold standard dog grooming centre ‘Furst Class Lounge’ in Chesterfield and the Multi Awarding winning KD Dog & Cat grooming centre in Somerset. I am delighted to add the official Cat grooming qualification to my portfolio.
